Born and raised in Southeast Louisiana, Dianne Bush Ulery has created a unique art form using
the normally wasted, ivory-like scales of the prehistoric alligator gar. Recently, shed whitetail
deer, elk and caribou antler have been added to her materials.

| Dianne's work in the studio includes carving and drilling of scales with high speed hand held equipment. Keep in mind that gar scales are pure enamel, the hardest organic material on earth, much harder than bone, ivory, or antler. Because of the extreme hard nature of enamel, the sculpting, drilling, and carving of the scales requires high speed drills, bits, grinding attachments and techniques that Dianne has developed in over 25 years of working with this medium. Other work done in the studio include painting, dying, leather work, bead work, detail ink work, and other art skills. With the advent and growth of computer technology Dianne has integrated this new tool into her artwork. Dianne designs and produces her own gift cards, uses digital imaging in artwork displays, and recently has integrated digital images into custom work such as her logo and photo necklaces.
